Your garden is a place to connect with the environment. It also offers valuable opportunities to reduce emissions and help fight climate change. There are many simple ways to make your garden and gardening practices more sustainable.
In this workshop, Teresa from Sustainable Gardening Australia will talk about how your garden can reduce your environmental impact and help us adapt to a changing climate.
Teresa will cover:
- The important role of healthy soil in the fight against climate change
- The relationship between organic waste and carbon emissions
- How to create micro-climates to cool down gardens and houses
- Reducing food miles by producing your own food
- Water-smart gardening
- Tips on reducing, reusing and recycling.
You’ll have an opportunity to perform your own soil analysis – just bring a couple of small soil samples from your garden, taken 20cm below the surface.
