What is the current state of the earth’s climate and how do we repair and protect people and planet? How can we address these topics in a way that “picks up” everyone? Well, the author and award-winning infographic designer Esther Gonstalla shows us, that one way to go is with visually attractive and easy-to-understand infographics.

This talk will feature graphics from her latest book, “Atlas of a Threatened Planet – 150 Graphics to Help Anyone Save the World” (Island Press, Washington D.C.), which has just been released in Australia via Wodslane Publishers.

Gonstalla is known for breaking complex topics into digestible and memorable pieces in her popular “Our World in 50 Graphics” book series, which has been published in seven languages. In this book, she turns her designer’s eye to the most critical threats to our environment, from shrinking glaciers and declining biodiversity to ocean warming. But not without showing the solutions to these problems. In eye-catching and fun illustrations, this book shows readers that, despite the urgent threats, not all is lost. Quick changes in energy production, technology, infrastructure, and our daily lifestyle choices can still help us protect the places we love.

Atlas of a Threatened Planet will spark your curiosity and invite you to see the Earth differently. It is written for all who want to understand the interlocking pieces of our home—and fight for the best ideas and strategies to save it.
